All About Us
The Ponchatoula Country Market Inc was formed in 1973.
Our current Board of Directors are the Officers, Jessie Cox, President, Jacquelyn Hoover, Treasurer, and Jeanne Ann Zaleski, Secretary, and our Directors, Enrae Lanfredi, Judy Berner, Dale Guilbeau, Texie Young, Randy Shillingburg, and Shirley Brunies who also serves as Assistant Managers, and Ruth Berner, who also serves as the Market Manager.
All our Board members are volunteers and we thank them for all their hard work and dedication.
Country Market is located in the historic train depot in downtown Ponchatoula, LA. It is owned and operated by Ponchatoula Country Market, Inc., a non-profit organization responsible for its maintenance and usefulness to the community.
The Board of Directors oversees the financial and physical needs of the property. Managers are available to give you details of the workings of the Market. They will give you a complete packet of information concerning the leasing of space in the building. Rental spaces range in cost from $30.00 to $75.00 a month.
In general, a booth renter is an individual who holds a city sales tax license and who rents space within the building. Your product should reflect our original plans to offer quality local home-made, hand-made, home-grown, and collectible items.
Besides meeting these requirements, a booth renter is required to work 1 day for each booth he/she rents. This is important because the booth renter will begin to build a clientele and will also gather important information on the crafting of new items to add to the inventory. The Market is open for business from 10:00-5:00 Monday through Saturday, and Sunday from 12:00-5:00. For more information contact the Manager.

Ponchatoula, Louisiana derives its name from the Choctaw Indian Pashi meaning "hair" and itula or itola, meaning "to fall". This term describes the abundance of Spanish Moss hanging on the trees in this area.
Ponchatoula is the oldest incorporated city in Tangipahoa Parish, having been approved for incorporation by the State Legislature on February 28, 1861.
