Historic Train Depot

Right next to the depot you'll see our restored Illinois Central Railway baggage Mail Car.  It houses an authentic Railway Post Office museum in the rear of the car.

1912 Steam Locomotive

This engine was in use when Poncatoula was a booming lumber town.

 

"Old Hardhide"

Our city Mascot, "Old Hardhide", is a favorite of the locals and greets visitors to the Market.  He is the only alligator in the world who writes a newspaper column and has his own bank account.

Louisiana's largest flying flag

On July 4, 1985, the Ponchatoula Jaycees presented to the city our majestic 30 x 60 foot "Old Glory".  Atop a 177 foot flagpole, it can be seen from a great distance.
